The countdown is on to The Coast’s annual Halifax Burger Week. Now in its sixth year, a record 125 restaurants are presenting special burgers at special prices from Thursday, March 22 through Wednesday, March 28, raising money for Feed Nova Scotia while creating a burger sensation in Halifax.

Since The Coast started Halifax Burger Week in 2013, it has grown to become one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for Feed Nova Scotia. Burger Week has helped raise $175,000 over the last five years.

“The way the community comes together each year to help Nova Scotians is nothing short of amazing,” says Justine Gelevan, Feed Nova Scotia’s Development Manager. “That’s enough for Feed Nova Scotia to distribute over 260,000 meals’ worth of donated food to our network of 146 food banks, soup kitchens, shelters and meal programs across Nova Scotia.”

This year, out of 125 official participating Burger Week restaurants, 78 restaurants will donate between $1 and $5 from each burger sold during Burger Week to Feed Nova Scotia. The other 47 restaurants will be offering burgers for just $6 to hungry Haligonians.

Last year, 117,500 burgers were served during Burger Week, while the #HFXBurgerWeek hashtag trended nationally for two days.

“Coming in to our 25th year, it’s important for The Coast to be part of the community and create something that is uniquely Halifax,” says publisher and co-founder Christine Oreskovich. “We are excited to work with the Halifax restaurant community and respect all the hard work each restaurant puts in to make a fun week for the city.”

This year’s unprecedented lineup of burgers, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and locavore options, is now live at

Halifax Burger Week is presented by The Coast, Halifax’s Weekly with Moosehead Breweries. Community support comes from our partners Select Nova Scotia, Downtown Halifax Business Commission, MINI Halifax, 92.9 JACK FM and Armstrong Food Services.
